New-Model Skyliner Features

New-Model Skyliner Features
The new model of Skyliner has been produced by the world-famous designer Kansai Yamamoto. As the first vehicle that visitors to Japan will encounter, the new Skyliner will give passengers a taste of novel Japanese design.

The train's body is colored stream white, pushing aside a wind blue streak based on the color of traditional Japanese indigo dye. The sharp edges from the front of the train's exterior and the two thin blue lines under the windows emphasize the feeling of speed. Even the train's logo expresses the idea of "Wind". Utilizing the "S" that appears as the first letter of the word Skyliner, a brushstroke design evokes the image of dashing.

The passenger carriages have been trimmed of everything deemed unnecessary with an exacting concern to produce a clean space overflowing with beauty.
A high domed ceiling and the utilization of glass give the interior an open, clean and refreshing feeling. The floor has a traditional Japanese check pattern design, and utilizes a color scheme that gives the suggestion of waves. This gives the interior a Japanese sense of beauty and a feeling of softness.

The seating area has also been fastidiously redesigned, with size of the seats and the space in between each seat increased to allow for an agreeable and comfortable journey. Each seat now has an AC power outlet under it. In addition, the trains have been installed with luggage space with security cameras, multi-lingual information displays (in English, Chinese & Korean), wheel chair spaces and baby cribs, and multifunctional toilets that have been designed to allow all passengers to use them comfortably with the inclusion of wheelchair access and baby seats.

Nippori Station, which is one station prior to the terminus at Ueno, is the most convenient location at which to change to the JR Lines. As soon as you go through the ticket gates, you will find the JR Yamanote Line and Keihin Tohoku Line. Every platform is served by an escalator and elevator, making it easy to change trains smoothly, even with large luggage. If you will be using a bullet train (shinkansen) for your forward travel from Ueno or Tokyo Station, changing trains at Nippori Station is recommended.
