Welcome to Arima Onsen

This hot spring town located conveniently just outside the city of Kobe is a popular destination for Japanese travelers, with weekends and holidays throughout the year crowded with vacationers. Arima Onsen is well known thanks in part to its long history, and its particularly romantic atmosphere and scenery make it an ideal date spot for couples.

Getting to Arima from Kobe is a breeze, requiring only about an hour by train. Popping over after a leisurely lunch in Kobe will leave you plenty of time to stroll about the area around the station in Arima and visit popular sightseeing spots like the statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi or crossing the Taiko-bashi Bridge for a great view. With cherry blossoms in spring, fireflies in summer, vibrantly colored leaves in autumn, and blankets of snow in winter, the natural scenery is breathtaking all year round.

Like many hot spring towns, Arima is also home to a couple public spas, distinguished as the Gold Spring and Silver Spring, respectively. The Gold Spring got its name from the reddish hue its waters hold thanks to a healthy dose of iron and sodium content. Why not try them both out and compare! If you're not in the mood for a full on bath at the moment, no worries; the Gold Spring also offers an outdoor foot bath where you can kick off your shoes and give your toes a dip.

Once you've had your fill exploring the town, it'll be time to head to your ryokan for the evening. Check out some of our suggestions for great places to stay below!

Enjoy a Private Soak

The ryokan of Arima Onsen want their guests to have the best hot spring experience possible, and if you would prefer a private bath to a communal one, they have got you covered! Stay at one of the ryokan below to gain access to reservable private baths, put your name in for a time slot when checking in, and enjoy a relaxing soak in a private hot spring paradise.
