1. Hiiragiya Bekkan Annex
Guest Rating: 4.6
Total Reviews: 27

A few words from a JAPANiCAN.com user...
"The food, service and room is of the highest quality. I have travelled to Japan 10 times as well as to Europe, US and Hong Kong and would rate the meal here one of the best that I ever had. The staff were extremely helpful, my room attendant gave me sightseeing and transportation hints. Hiiragiya is a centuries old establishment in a city that is steeped in elegance and tradition and it shows that well. The location is quite and it is only a short distance from a bus stop, subway station and shops. It is worth the cost and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."

Hakone
Hakone has long been famous for its ample natural hot springs, the beautiful scenery of the surrounding national park, and its great views of Mt. Fuji. Combine all of that with its proximity to Tokyo, and it's no surprise that Hakone is such a popular destination among both domestic and international travelers.

We stayed in Japanese rooms with stunning views and had 2 meals - Japanese set dinner and buffet breakfast which were both fantastic. The onsen was not big but was quite clean and comfortable. The service was excellent as well. Overall a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Hakone."

A few words from a JAPANiCAN.com user...
"Stayed here for only 24hrs, but the experience will remembered for years. The quality of service, food, baths etc were second-to-none. The outdoor bath was fantastic - full body regeneration. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. Make sure you borrow a Yakuta. The Japanese dinner and breakfast are without doubt the finest food I've ever consumed. The trip up via railway makes it all the more worthwhile. Make sure you get a Hakone Free Pass - well worth it. Basically, this place is phenomenal!"

Honorable Mention
Though not quite as standard as Tokyo, Kyoto, or Hakone, there are a few other popular destinations that we thought we should share. Below, check out the top reviewed hotels in Takayama, Koyasan, the Mt. Fuji area, Hiroshima, and Hokkaido (one from each area).
Hiroshima: Iwaso
Guest Rating: 4.9
Total Reviews: 21

A few words from a JAPANiCAN.com user...
"Amazing experience. Worth every penny. Room was not large, but comfortable with great views of the Torii gate and the 5-story pagoda. They were happy to send a shuttle to pick us up at the pier and to take us back when we left, and hold our luggage after we checked out. Take the nearby ropeway up to the top of Mt. Misen, a must do. Also a short walk from the Itsukushima shrine complex, with shops and street food along the way. Many friendly deer, but less than Nara Park. Dinner was wonderful and the service was flawless. Onsen were very nice, both indoor and outdoor."

A few words from a JAPANiCAN.com user...
"This is a wonderful hotel. My family was totally amazed and had a wonderful time. The rooms are big and very comfortable, so much space just like a good 5 Star resort. The Onsen was great too, not crowded and free Yakult after the bath, outdoor onsen in the Autumn cold was absolutely awsome. As for the Breakfast, its the best I have had for a long time, very local, very country in flavor. Totally relaxing place to put yourself in on a holiday stressless from the moment you step in."

Koyasan: Henjoko-in
Guest Rating: 4.5

A few words from a JAPANiCAN.com user...
"The Monks were superb hosts with pretty good english skills which helps the english-speaking visitor. The food might not be for most, but you must remember this is traditional vegetarian food for them. It would help if there was an english pamphlet explaining what's expected from you, so you're more comfortable. A definite must to experience!!"

"A fantastic place for a stay in Hakodate. The rooms were a tad small but it had everything we needed and exceeded our expectations. Service staff were helpful and conscientious. The location is right next to many of the historical attractions. The buffet breakfast spread was the BEST I have every seen. 3 words for the Onsen baths, GO FOR IT!"
